CPF and security company catch alleged hijacker

A woman arrived on scene and identified the man as one of three men who tried to hijack her.

Local security services and the Community Policing Forum in Krugersdorp (CPF) caught an attempted hijacker on Monday night, 7 May.

Dowry High Risk Unit posted on their Facebook page that the incident happened at 8.50pm.

They reported that they received a call for urgent back up on Voortrekker Road in the Breaunanda area. The armed suspect allegedly ran from the CPF after he had tried to hijack a vehicle.

Members of the security team and the CPF chased the suspect after he climbed out of his vehicle, catching and detaining him until the police arrived on scene.

Dowry’s officers and the CPF searched for the firearm, but were unable to find it. When the police arrived, a woman also arrived on scene and identified the man as one of three men who had tried to hijack her at a traffic light.

The suspect was arrested by the police and his vehicle was towed away.
