Man stabs ex-girlfriend almost to death
The victim was heard screaming for help a few minutes after an argument ensued.
A 37-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, 9 May after he had allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend several times at her home in Kagiso.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, said that on 28 April, police received a complaint of domestic violence from a concerned neighbour in Extension 8.
“On arrival at the address mentioned, the police found paramedics on the scene busy with the victim. She was bleeding profusely from multiple stab wounds on her back and head.
The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition,” said Sibiya.
A witness informed the police that the suspect arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home to collect his belongings. He entered the house and a heated argument ensued between him and the victim. The victim was heard screaming for help a few minutes later.

The witness allegedly rushed into the victim’s yard to help, but met the armed suspect leaving the premises. The suspect, who was in possession of a knife, jumped into his car and sped off. He had been on the run trying to evade arrest ever since.
The suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of attempted murder was opened against him. He has appeared briefly in court.
