Why is there no water in Krugersdorp this morning?
"This will start to affect more areas as the level drops."
Rand Water issued a statement yesterday, 27 May, after residents of the West Rand reported that they were experiencing low water pressure. One of the affected areas is Krugersdorp.
Rand Water attributed the water pressure issues to the theft of electrical cables, and said that the loss of power to parts of the Emfuleni Municipality had impacted the pumping capability of the Vereeniging Pumping station. This consequently impacts the Meredale Reservoir in Johannesburg South.

Jade Miller, a ward councillor in Krugersdorp, said, “Some parts of Krugersdorp are experiencing low pressure this morning as a result of low reservoir levels. This will start to affect more areas as the level drops. They are busy replacing the stolen cable and will then start pumping again”.
Rand Water said they were working on the problems and indicated that water should be restored within 36 hours of the initial loss of pressure.
The affected areas include:
• Krugersdorp
• Witpoortjie
• Westonaria
• Tshepisong
