Justice for brave victim after she points out her rapist
He pointed a firearm at her. She screamed, but no one could hear her.
Five months after a woman was raped in an open field, she finally saw justice being served, as her alleged rapist was arrested by the police.
Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso Police, said the woman was on her way home in a taxi on 28 November last year. After she was dropped off near a local school, and started walking home, an unknown man grabbed her.

“He insisted that she went with him, but she refused,” said Sibiya. “She screamed, but no one could hear her. The suspect had by this time pulled out a gun and was forcing her into a field.
“The armed suspect pulled her to an open space between the school and the community hall. He then started to rape her. When he was done, he assaulted her, and took her handbag which contained a phone, bank and clothing cards, her ID book and cash.”
The victim reported the matter to the Kagiso Police and an investigation was launched. She managed to point out the suspect to the police during the weekend. He was apprehended and later detained at Kagiso Police Station where a case of kidnapping and rape was opened.
The suspect has appeared briefly in court and was remanded in custody for further police investigations and a formal bail application.
