Liquor store burglars’ party cut short

"A good workinger relationship between the community and police yielded results when we received information that led to the successful arrest of the suspects."

Three suspects aged between 28 and 29 were arrested on Wednesday, 30 May for allegedly breaking into a local liquor store a week earlier.

A woman told the police that she closed and locked her liquor store the night before the theft. She received a call early the next morning from a concerned resident who informed her that a burglary had taken place at her store.

She rushed to the scene, where she noted that liquor, cartons of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash held in a safe had been stolen. A case docket of business burglary was opened at Kagiso Police Station and an investigation launched.

Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson forf the Kagiso Police said, “A good working relationship between the community and police yielded results when we received information that led to the successful arrest of the suspects”.

The suspects will appear briefly in court soon, on charges of business burglary.
