Brothers bust for breaking into sister’s ex-boyfriend’s home

The grandmother of his child allegedly also poured hot water over him.

Two male suspects aged 30 and 32 were arrested on Thursday, 31 May at about noon, for allegedly assaulting their sister’s former boyfriend and breaking down part of his home.

The previous Thursday, 24 May, at about 8pm, the victim was at his home when he heard his child crying hysterically at his ex-girlfriend’s home, which was nearby.

He then went to his ex-girlfriend’s house to investigate. When he arrived, members of her family attacked him. The grandmother of his child allegedly also poured hot water over him.

“The ex-girlfriend’s brothers also assaulted him and chased him out of their home. He went to Soweto the following morning and while there, he received a call from an anonymous person saying that the ex-girlfriend’s relatives were damaging his shack and its padlock using axes,” said Captain Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for Kagiso Police.

The man returned home, found his shack damaged and went to Kagiso Police to lodge a complaint against those he believed were responsible for the damages. A case of burglary and malicious injury to property was registered at Kagiso Police Station and an investigation was launched.

Two of the ex-girlfriend’s brothers were arrested and detained at the station.

The suspects will appear in court soon.
