[UPDATE] Power being restored after massive outage due to substation fire
Most of the affected areas' power have been restored.

Here follows the latest feedback from Mogale City on the massive power outage caused by a fire at a Kagiso substation:
“The source has been established at the Eskom Westgate Substation in Kagiso which is a feeder/ conduit that supplies City of Joburg West, Krugersdorp and Randfontein. It led to the Vlei Power Station in Kagiso Extensions and the Condale Power Station in Krugersdorp Industrial Park catching fire because of unplanned disruptions of the system. These fires have been extinguished. The teams have also managed to restore power to parts of Kagiso and will ensure that the affected areas get its supply back soon.”
Massive power outage after substation burns

Mogale City Local Municipality has released the following statement regarding this afternoon’s sudden power outage which was caused by a fire at a substation in the Kagiso area.
“Eskom has lost a busbar which has affected power supply to Mogale City, Randfontein and parts of City of Joburg. The team is investigating the matter and will work relentlessly to ensure restoration of electricity supply soonest.

Current reports coming through states that some areas’ power has been restored.
