Man shot dead round the corner from his house

The attacker was wearing a green gown and opened fire at the deceased.

A 40-year-old man was shot and killed on Monday, 18 June at 8.40pm just outside his home.

Sector police members received an anonymous complaint about a shooting about 10 minutes after the incident had happened. The caller reported that the shooting took place next to the ZCC church in Kagiso. The police responded to the complaint and found the deceased lying in the street in a pool of blood. He had been shot several times and had sustained wounds to his upper and lower body.

Police found about 15 bullet casings next to the deceased’s body.

Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya, said that the neighbour who witnessed the incident informed the police that the deceased had just arrived from Soweto and parked his car.

“Suddenly he heard gunshots and noticed an unknown person wearing a green gown cocking a gun and firing at the deceased. The deceased allegedly ran into his house trying to take cover but he was already wounded. The suspect fled the scene on foot after the shooting,” said Sibiya.

The motive for the killing is unknown, but the police have opened a murder docket.
