[WATER UPDATE] Conflicting reports about Krugersdorp’s water crisis

Numerous suburbs have been without water for three days.

Numerous posts on Facebook this morning have mentioned that the current water problem in various suburbs of Krugersdorp is not due to cable theft at a Rand Water hub in the Bruma area.

Sonja Mc Pherson posted on the Krugersdorp Community Forum page that she contacted Rand Water herself. They confirmed that there was no cable theft causing the pumping stations and ultimately the reservoirs in Krugersdorp to run dry. She also said they reiterated that the problem is not from their side.

She demanded that Mogale City Local Municipality provide answers.

The News is awaiting official comment from various stakeholders about the current situation and will update readers once it has been received.

There are currently water tankers available to assist residents at the following centres:

• Engen Service Station in Krugersdorp West

• Anthos Shopping Centre (Monument Checkers)

• Kenmare Reservoir in Shannon Road
