Rand West official caught parking in a marked disabled parking space
To make matters worse, the official gave the photographer the middle finger.
A Rand West Municipality official was photographed, with his vehicle, parked in a demarcated disabled parking space at a hypermarket in Krugersdorp, on Tuesday, 3 July.
To make matters worse, the official gave the person who took the photographs the middle finger while driving off. The upset person then posted the images on Facebook and a social media storm erupted.
The post has been shared over 7 000 times and over 150 comments were made by rather angry posters.

Many of the comments said the same thing; namely, that action needs to be taken against the official.
James Dekker commented, “If you don’t report this and take it to the top, you wasted your time posting this.”
Other comments also said that nothing will come of the matter because of the levels of corruption within the local governments.

Many posted that if the roles were reversed, it would have turned into a racial situation.
“If he did that to me, I would have gone to jail, I’m so sick of this crap,” Dewald Noortman commented.
The News contacted the Rand West Municipality’s manager, Themba Goba, about the situation.

“We are aware of what has been posted on Facebook and we are investigating the matter,” Goba said.
He also said they hope to conclude the investigation soon, and that it should not take longer than a month.
