Mindalore man attempts suicide on Mandela Day

He had allegedly lost his job and got drunk before shooting himself in the head.

A man tried to commit suicide at his house in Mindalore on Mandela Day, 18 July.

At about 4pm gunshots could be heard coming from the house. Soon after various authorities, including the police, arrived at the house.

It’s believed that emergency services assisted in treating the man who was still alive after shooting himself in the head.

Eyewitnesses claim the man had lost his job earlier that day and when he got home he consumed copious amounts of alcohol before taking out a relative’s gun and shooting himself.

The man was stabilised on scene and then transported to Leratong Hospital where he was treated.

The police were asked to comment on the matter and the News will keep the community updated as more information becomes available.
