Relationship ends in rape

Her boyfriend was 12 years her senior and she had a protection order against him, but that didn't stop him from raping her.

A 38-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he raped his girlfriend early last year. The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

At the time of the crime, the 26-year-old woman had already successfully filed for a protection order against her boyfriend because of domestic violence. Despite the protection order, he visited her on 7 April 2017, threatened her with a knife and raped her.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Peter Rakhudu, who is a member of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS) in Krugersdorp, was applauded for the manner in which he investigated the case. His determination in the investigation ensured the successful conclusion.
