Blind artisan shares his vision
Michael Ndlovu has defied all odds by standing out in his craft as a valued artisan despite being blind.
Michael Ndlovu, 62, has defied all odds by standing out in his craft as a valued artisan at the Cobra taps factory, despite being blind.
To cope, he developed a voice in his head – the voice that has kept him going to this day.
Michael started focusing on the voice, which also led to forgive and not blame others for his disability. He said he has been humbled over the years and that despite challenges, one must remain positive.
He is proud about the fact that he has been using this talents and gifts in his workplace every day for the past 19 years. He believes a workplace is where individuals give their all and unleash what God blessed them with.
Whenever he fell or struggled, the voice kept him going. Even though he wanted to quit his job at first, he knew he needed to carry on. Today, Michael works with the smallest bolts and gadgets which he assembles almost effortlessly and because he gives it his all, despite his disability, he has become a tap.
