Ward councillors honour local women

A small group of women celebrated National Women’s Day and were treated to tea and refreshments provided by councillors.

Nelson Mandela argued that “as long as women are bound by poverty, human rights will lack substance”.

The local DA paid tribute to the women of Mogale City during the month of August.

The National Department of Women requested that 1 August be regarded as a day of mourning for victims of gender-based violence and South Africans were asked to observe a moment of silence at 1pm.

A small group of Munsieville women celebrated National Women’s Day and were treated to tea and refreshments provided by councillors Victor Mhlari and Jacqueline Pannall. A few gifts were handed to the ladies to improve their quality of life.

“We honour these women as they add value to life and share their generosity of spirit with their community,’ said Pannall.

“This attempt to improve the lives of women is but a drop in the ocean as Munsieville is home to much suffering,” concluded the councillor.
