Speeding a thing of the past

According to Assistant Manager, Jimmy Keet, these cameras will be placed at various locations.

The Mogale City Traffic Department recently decided to kick road safety up a gear, and has brought a total of 13 traffic cameras into the system.

According to Assistant Manager, Jimmy Keet, five of these cameras will be placed at permanent locations, while the other eight mobile cameras will be used at various locations throughout town.

“The permanent cameras will be planted at various intersections and will monitor speeding as well as the skipping of red lights. The eight mobile cameras will then serve mainly to monitor speeding vehicles wherever necessary,” he said.

“The main goal is to reduce speeding, thus reducing the number of collisions. This will also lead to fewer injuries on the road and fewer deaths.”

Mogale City’s Traffic Department urges all road users to be safe and to adhere to all road rules at all times.
