Bubbles and cuddles lessen struggles for these four-legged pups

There are many huskies that have been dealt a bad hand in life, and need the community's help to survive and feel loved.

Heaven took the form of blue eyes, furry paws and wagging, wet tails when Husky Heaven Rescue invited supporters to take part in their Bath a Husky Spring Day event.

Dog-lovers not only had the opportunity to welcome the new season, but to also show their love to more than 60 rescued huskies. Joining them on the day was Husky Koda – who was rescued late last year after being hit by a car in Port Elizabeth.

“His owners didn’t take him to a vet. When we heard of the news via social media, we knew that we had to fetch him and bring him back for medical attention. He had a shattered shoulder, broken toes and a broken wrist,” owner Brenda Meyer said.

Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done to save his leg, which sadly resulted in amputation. Just like Koda, there are many other huskies that have been dealt a bad hand in life, and need the community’s help to survive and feel loved.

According to Brenda this is only one of Husky Heaven’s annual fundraising events that’s crucial for the organisation’s survival.

Also supporting the fluffy cause were David Hattingh and Paul van Heerden (DJ Paul Angel) from Uncut Media, who showed their support on the day by live broadcasting music on their Truth in Dance Show.

They also feature a different ‘rescue’ every week on their show in effort to create awareness.

“We received some good support from community members. The huskies most definitely felt the love, and we would like to thank all our supporters for it,” said Brenda.
