Local artists aim to flourish
We want to create a platform for local artists to showcase their talents.
An initiative aimed at encouraging local arts was launched by Mogale City Local Municipality in April this year. As part of the initiative, an art forum, consisting of arts and culture practitioners, was established as well.
According to its chairperson, David Seroja, the forum enables these practitioners to speak as one body.
He explained that the forum manages registered artists within different sectors. A few of these sectors include dance, poetry, theatre and drama, visual arts and crafts and modelling.
Since the municipality is already involved, they would like to invite both the private sector and the community to support the initiative as well.
The forum would like to put community halls back in business and aims to kick teenage pregnancies, substance abuse and gangsterism to the curb.
The forum is currently hosting an event in December which will be aimed at benefiting these artists. If you are interested or want to find out more, feel free to contact Lucky Matome on 072 566 2968. You can also visit their Facebook page, Mogale Arts and Culture Forum.
