Households power still off after loadshedding — some for 15 hours

Stage 1 loadshedding kicked in at 4pm until 9pm yesterday but some households still do not have power.

On Thursday afternoon, 29 November, Mogale City was scheduled to have Stage 1 load shedding from 4pm.
At about 9pm, power returned to most parts of Mogale City; however several areas across the city, including Rangeview Extension 4 had working street lights, but no power supply to the houses.
Parts of Krugersdorp North are still also off.

The municipality currently has no after-hours call centre, so residents and councillors have no way to log complaints or report service delivery issues.

DA councillor for Ward 22, Jade Miller, reported that she called several officials, including the MMC for Infrastructure, but all calls went unanswered.
“I called and messaged everyone I could that works in the department and received no reply from anyone.”
The Infrastructure department is woefully understaffed and currently only has one standby electrician on duty after hours, and four during the day.
“This is a huge shortfall for a municipality of Mogale’s size. Instead of employing more technicians, the municipality chose to employ 80 people into political support services which renders no service delivery to the residents of Mogale.”
Some Mogale residents have now been without electricity for over 15 hours.
“This paints a very concerning picture for the festive season service delivery. If there is no after-hours function now, what will happen when the majority of the staff are on leave? Will the rate-paying residents of Mogale just be left in the dark?”
