Hike the Koppies

10 FEBRUARY — Join a group hike of up to 8km through three of the Melville Koppies. The tour sets off at 8.30am sharp. Park in the upper parking area at Marks Park on Judith Road, Emmarentia and then walk across to the entrance. Hikers must be fit with good balance as paths are rocky and steep. Children must be over six years old. Sorry, no dogs allowed. Costs are R60 for adults and R40 for children – all donations are used to maintain the Koppies. Science and religion talk

10 FEBRUARY — World-renowned astronomer, Professor David Block will be speaking at the AFM Church on Libertas Street, Noordheuwel about science and religion at 6pm. Everyone is invited to attend. Prof David is a former learner of Krugersdorp High School and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society of London at the age of 19. His first research paper – at age 20 – on relativistic astrophysics, was published in London by the Royal Astronomical Society.

The Soil

15–16 FEBRUARY — What better way to celebrate the month of love than with tickets to see The Soil – Korobela Tour featuring Thee Legacy at Silverstar? After the release of the single, Korobela (Love magic portion) The Soil is embarking on a tour to promote the song and spread love. They will be accompanied by award-winning a cappella group, Thee Legacy (third generation and grandsons of the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo) famous for their love songs Wena Wedwa and Sthandwa Sam. Both groups deliver melodic and harmonious messages aimed at uplifting and healing souls all around the world by using urban contemporary sound and Afro-rhythms deeply influenced by their South African heritage. This is a show not to be missed. Shows kick off at 7pm. Tickets cost R200 per person and can be booked at the Silverstar Box Office.
