#HopefortheFuture – 40 days and 40 donations

But just adding one thing to your donation box everyday, you can ensure that the voiceless, the needy and the desperate get a little relief.

The Chief Executive Officer of the United Nations, Kathy Calvin, once said: “Giving is not about making a donation, it is about making a difference.”

You do not have to make a difference in the world, you can start by making a difference in the community.

The Hope for the Future Foundation on the West Rand started with their ’40 days, 40 donations’ campaign again on 4 February.

If you would like to take part in this campaign, all you have to do is take a bag or a box and for forty days you just add one thing to your donation every day.

You can donate anything – something around the house, clothes, non-perishable food, arts and crafts, absolutely anything. At the end of the campaign, you are supposed to have forty items which you then donate to the charity.

This is the fourth year that they have run this campaign, during which they mainly focus on frail care needs. This means they try to help the elderly, the disabled, day cares and places of safety.

They currently have 18 elderly families that they assist when needed and in November 2018, they opened a new branch in Westonaria, which is run by Meisie and Marisa Lombaard.

They accept any donations, but are in desperate need of adult diapers, children’s diapers, toys, arts and crafts and bedding.

If you would like to contact them, you can phone Sara van Rensburg at 073 214 5181 or Yolandi Pestana at 062 748 4657. Donations can be dropped off at 20 Heading street, Wentworth Park.
