The Mogale City Local Football Association (MCLFA) kicked off their season in January when they did the draw for their annual Super Cup tournament.
The MCLFA was established in 2005 and strives to develop, coordinate and promote the game of football for everyone involved in their league.
Nick Motshwane, the chairperson of MCLFA, said they want to help improve the game of football, promote and regulate the game through fair play principles, and instill values through youth development programmes.
The league has various junior and senior teams, starting with the U/9 boys, through women’s leagues and ending with the open male leagues. They boast an impressive 135 teams that take part in their different tournaments.
Teams come from all over Mogale City, including Muldersdrift, Kromdraai, Hekpoort, Magaliesburg, Tarlton, Munsieville, Krugersdorp and Kagiso.
Nick says that supporters can look forward to their development league this year and the winners of the promotional league will be upgraded to the SAB League.
The female teams participating in the South African Football Association (Safa) Gauteng Sasol Women’s league stand a chance to qualify for the Safa National Championship in the newly established Safa Women’s Premier league which will be launched in February and kick off in April.
There are also local players who will be representing Mogale City in the U/17 Banyana Banyana national team.
Nick said they are very excited for all these different teams who might represent them in some global football leagues.
The MCLFA is a non-profit organisation and is looking for sponsors to help them by donating equipment, trophies, medals and prize money for their Easter, Festive and Super Cups, as well as their Top Eight tournament.
If you would like to watch these matches, the senior men’s teams will be playing during the week, while the female and development teams play during weekends. Matches take place between 9am and 5pm and between 5pm and 10pm. You can view the fixtures and times on the MCLFA Facebook page.
