Fora Charity Run collects more donations than expected
Crowds gathered at the Fora Krugersdorp shelter for some fun with cars and motorcycles, socialising with friends and supporting an important cause.
Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) recently had great success with their donation run in February, when hundreds of eager helpers arrived to donate to the shelter.
Expectations were far exceeded as animal food, treats, beds, blankets and even a large dog shelter were offloaded by the many people who showed up to the event.
Regular volunteers took some of the dogs out every now and then for a brisk walk, but the liveliness of the event made it a little difficult. Visitors, though, enjoyed walking in the main shelter area, petting the dogs and sometimes giving them treats.

Food stalls were available during the day for the guests, and many eager participants showed up with their sports cars and motorcycles, some even doing a bit of stunt driving with wheelies, spins and donuts.
Speed and Sound Magazine also attended the event, and was soon joined by many Ford Focus and Fiesta enthusiasts. The predominantly young crowd had a great time in each other’s company.
Though this donation drive was very successful, Fora said that they still need a lot of donations on a regular basis to care for their current complement of over 380 dogs, and about 100 cats.
