Former learners at Thulo Lefa Secondary School in Munsieville saw a need to give back to the school by motivating the current Grade 11s.
Phillip Ndlovu, 22, an inspirational author from Munsieville, conducted a motivational talk at his former school recently. This was the first time the school had a motivational talk from a local person since its establishment.
The main objective of the of the motivational talk was to restore the learners’ confidence in the school after the school had experienced some difficult situations, mainly because of the behaviour of some learners who had gone astray.
Phillip saw the need to intervene, and shared his personal life experiences to help the learners focus more on things that will benefit their lives.
He told the learners that 2018 was the worst year in his life. He went through some difficult circumstances, and the situation was not favourable for him. This made him drop out of college, where he was studying Information Technology (IT). However nothing stopped him from getting his life back together, and he is now back in college.
He told the learners they should believe in themselves and work hard to bring change to the community of Munsieville.
He also mentioned that lot of the youth spend too much time on social media and should rather use their time doing the things that matter.
He concluded by quoting these words of encouragement from his book Knowledge In Zenith:
“Before you venture in anything, it will be wise to actually ask yourself, how much do you want to succeed? Draw a plan about everything you want to achieve, whatever you have written down, follow that plan and do not let anyone ridicule your ambitions. Never abandon your plans for someone who doubts you, every time you reach a certain milestone remind yourself about the plan and how much you want the end product to manifest in becoming a reality. This journey is really about you, and anyone who joins in and actually sees potential in you is a bonus.”
