People open their hearts to donate at the blood drive

Some were very excited to donate for the first time, others were frightened at the prospect of having a needle in their arm, but all were proud to add to the cause.

Donating blood saves lives – it’s as simple as that. Every day, people all over South Africa find themselves in life-threatening situations, and end up in hospital in dire need of a blood transfusion.

Blood drives are very important and rewarding to the community in general, and still the most effective way of keeping the nation’s blood supply up to standard.

To help with the effort, Re/Max Krugersdorp invited the South African National Blood Service to their offices on Friday, 21 June, where almost all of their staff, along with members of the public, donated to the cause.

Some were very excited to donate for the first time, others were slightly frightened at the prospect of having a needle in their arm, with one donor braving her tears and sitting down to give her blood to a cause she believed in. For many, this was just one blood donation in a long string of donations they regularly make to the blood bank.

The day was quite successful, and resulted in the staff at Re/Max imploring others in the community to make the effort to find a blood drive or blood bank to make a donation.
