Winter Knights fighting the cold nights
Every year the Round Table has a national project called Winter Knight. This winter they want to warm the hearts and bodies of those living on the street.
The Round Table has a national project called Winter Knights, and this project is run by all the Round Table clubs across Southern Africa.
The theme for the 2019 project is ‘Nothing burns like the cold’ and the idea is to curb the cold for as many people as possible during the winter months.
“Winter Knights is a hands-on project where the individual Round Table clubs support their respective local communities by collecting blankets, old clothes and tinned food,” explained Sulette van der Berg.
She added that they personally hand out blankets and food to people living on the street.
“We talk to them and to see these people open up to us is amazing – to spread warmth to people who need it so much is what we do,” added Sulette.
Any cash donations will be used to buy extra blankets and food. But Round Table Krugersdorp48, Monument Toyota and Monument High School have joined hands for this projects.
“We are asking the community to please donate items. We will be collecting blankets, non-perishable foods and warm clothing at two upcoming events,” she said.
They will be the Miss Monnas 2019 competition held at Hoërskool Monument on 25 July.
Sulette said that if anyone wants to donate before these events they can phone Gerhard van der Berg on 074 204 3484.
