Baby shower for four newborns due soon
The Mi Yehenraine Rescue Horse and Therapeutic Riding Centre has relocated to Tarlton and are about to welcome four foals into their family.
The team from Mi Yehenraine is very excited to announce that they will soon be hearing the clippity-clop of new foal hooves at their Rescue Horse and Therapeutic Riding Centre.
Not only one, but four of their mares are to give birth within the next few weeks. This means that the team has been frantically putting pens together and preparing for the young ones.
The idea behind the Mi Yehenraine centre started with Loraine Gouws in Randfontein. But it was 14-year-old Nastaché van Staden’s love for equines and her dream of becoming a horse therapist that brought the centre to Tarlton.
Nastaché’s mom, Louise van Staden, wanted to buy a horse for her daughter when they met Loraine, and they all just clicked.
Louise told Loraine that they had a bigger space for her rescue horses and soon enough the centre moved to Tarlton.
The Centre’s purpose is to rescue horses that have been abused and neglected. They then rehabilitate them, which can sometimes take years, depending on the level of abuse the horse has suffered.
Once the horses are rehabilitated, they are used during the therapy sessions, during which abused, underprivileged and disabled children get the opportunity to interact with and ride some of the horses.
She added that they do not force any human or animal to do anything they do not want to do, and they try to keep the horses as close to their natural state as possible.
Baby Shower:
To prepare for their four new additions, they are having an equine ‘baby shower’, which they have decided to call ‘Milo Mares’. The public is invited to join them from 8am to noon at Plot 28, Helderblom, Tarlton, on Saturday, 27 July, to meet their rescued horses and interact with them.
The entrance fee will be R20 per person, which will entitle each person to a cup of Milo. Children can ride the horses for a fee of R10.
Members of the public wanting to give a baby shower gift can make monetary donations on the day, or bring any of the following items with them. The Centre needs sponges, baby powder, horse shampoo, leashes, wire for fencing, gum poles, old swimming pool nets and anything else they can use to build pens for the babies.
