Do an act of kindness every day

No matter how small your contribution, it can make a positive difference.

The staff of Cash Connect, a leading cash management company for the retail sector, took time out of their day to bring happiness to children from the Krugersdorp community.

The Cradle of Hope nursery school, also known as Tjokkertjies vir Jesus, is a nursery school for children from the impoverished part of the community.

“Hardly any of the children’s parents pay school fees, but we don’t turn away any child, because these children would otherwise never have the opportunity to attend nursery school,” said Melodie van Brakel, the owner.

Tumi Marumo, a member of Cash Connect’s staff, said although happiness has a different meaning for everyone, they had the opportunity to allow the children to be children, which is to be free and to be able to express themselves.

Mandela Day is about changing the world for the better. No matter how small your contribution, it can make a positive difference.

“67 minutes is all it takes to make a small difference in someone’s life.

By giving a little of your time each day towards making a change that’s close to your heart, or towards making a difference to the life of someone else, you can start changing the world around you.

While Tjokkertjies vir Jesus in general focuses on school readiness, Cash Connect staff made sure to add to their memories of nursery school by enjoying a heartfelt playtime with the children, painting their faces and preparing lunch for them.

Melodie is grateful to companies like Cash Connect that extend their time and efforts to support the children of the Krugersdorp community. She urged everyone to remember that South Africa has hungry, homeless and hopeless children who are in need every day.

“Not only did we go beyond making an impact in the lives of the children of Tjokkertjies vir Jesus, the #MandelaDay outreach also changed something in each and every one of us,” said Sumay Dippenaar, head of marketing for Cash Connect.

Cash Connect challenges all businesses in South Africa to not only make a difference on Mandela Day, but to make this part of their everyday lives and to regularly perform acts of kindness.
