Struggling crèches gets a helping hand from university students.

North-West University students head out to Krugersdorp as part of their curriculum to help out the Cross Connect Community Outreach organisation.

Cross Connect Community Outreach (CCCO) never stops working to help out the community.

Helping out in more places than they can actually cope with takes more than just hard work. To enable CCCO to do more and help more schools and the community in general, they constantly seek out help to get their projects done.

The North-West University’s Engineering Department heard their pleas and stepped forward to help with multiple building projects throughout the year.

Thus far they have built two preschool playgrounds and installed a ventilation and an isolation system to bring the schools up to government standards.

These practical projects count toward the students’ final marks during the year, and help them to learn to implement their knowledge.

They are currently busy building a mobile classroom which will act as an after-school centre.

From here, the engineering students and CCCO staff will install multiple bathroom facilities, security gates, more playgrounds and so on throughout the rest of the year.
