A shooting star – acting at 17
Christo Martin has already made it into the professional acting world by starring in the pilot of a brand new series. All of this and he's not even done with high school yet.
Christo Martin is wasting no time chasing his dreams.
Since he was a child he wanted nothing more than to become an actor of note. As life goes, this dream faded as he grew up and started considering other more so-called ‘adult’ careers. When he joined the Ta-Da! Theatre Arts and Drama Academy, a new fire was lit in his heart for drama and singing.
After only a few months, Christo was invited to audition for a new South African television series. He couldn’t reveal the show’s name just yet, but could unveil a few interesting details. He starred as one of the main characters in the pilot episode, and hinted that a terrible fate awaited him at the end. He said that we’ll just have to wait and see what his character, a university student, gets himself into.

“The whole experience was incredibly insightful. Everything and everyone were so professional, I couldn’t believe what the set was like,” Christo said. When asked what his favourite part of the experience was, he replied without missing a beat, “Definitely the snacks!” But, he also went on and on about how well the other actors and set crew treated him on shooting day. “They really taught me a lot, gave me tons of advice and I walked away with a completely new outlook on acting.”
With new vigour after this experience he’s looking forward to his future, but first comes his final year and a bit of school.
He is Bekker High’s head boy for 2020 and will continue his acting and vocal training at Ta-Da. Within the coming month he’ll also be launching his own YouTube channel where he’ll be posting regular videos on his path to stardom, and uploading his official songs whenever they’re released.
“Ta-Da helps me with everything; the training, recording and even editing when I need it.”
Christo also performed well recently at the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association Eisteddfod where he attained five diamond and three platinum awards, and a short film he filmed with Ta-Da received many awards at film competitions.
