Mayor proud of West Rand emergency simulation
Mayor believes that emergency simulation exercises should become a nation-wide thing.
After an emergency simulation on the N14 in Honingklip, the Executive Mayor of Mogale City, Naga Patrick Lipudi took some time to talk to the media.
The simulated accident was set up on the N14 in Honingklip just past the service station on 25 October.

Lipudi explained that the operation was a district-wide operation that looked at the multi-disciplinary capacities available on the West Rand.
“The aim is to test the emergency services and see how they respond to various exercises. This is very important and the overall objective is to ensure that we look at weak spots so that we can improve on them,” Lipudi said.
He added he was very impressed by what he had observed. By identifying weak spots, mechanisms can be developed to help with future training.
When asked about the community who was inconvenienced during the simulation, he added that they normally put information concerning events like this on Facebook as a way for the municipality to account for what is happening.
“Once people know what is going on, they can appreciate what we are doing. It means that we are not taking things for granted but taking things very seriously,” Lipudi added.
When asked if he supports future similar excesses, he said that it was not only beneficial to the emergency services but also those who make decisions on the West Rand.
“It helps us with the both the mobilisation and the allocation of resources. The repetition of this kind of exercise is very important,” he explained.
“West Randers always enjoy being trend-setters, and from my observations, I think that this is something that should be done in the whole country, because the whole country is affected by the same challenges that we face,” Lipudi said proudly.
