PH’s golf day celebrates a big milestone

The PH golf day is a highlight in its suppliers' calendar and requests for it to be bigger have been ongoing for years.

In the 10 years that President Hyper (PH) has hosted and presented its golf day to its suppliers, the funds raised during this day have helped over 100 different beneficiaries.

On 8 October, PH had its 10th golf day at the Krugersdorp Golf Club, with this year being a very special commemorative year.

Numerous organisations from the areas served by PH (Fochville, Krugersdorp and Vanderbijlpark) received cash donations towards their worthy cause.

The Cradle of Hope and The Krugersdorp Centre for the Care of the Aged (KCCA) were among those who received funds.

Melody van Brakel, founder of The Cradle, along with her marketing and public relations officer, Elmarie Hall, were present to receive the funds while Mareli de la Hunt-Van der Merwe (manager) and Nico Coetzee (chairperson) received the funds on behalf of the KCCA.

Tumi Morake kept the audience going with some hilarious jokes while also helping to hand out prizes.

During the last 10 years, PH has built a house for cancer patients in Fochville, by means of their golf day. The house is aptly named after the founding father of PH and his wife, the George and Ana Synodinos Home.

This golf day was also a record breaker for PH. There were 208 golfers on the field that day, nine of whom were women which means there were 52 four-balls on the day – something golf day organisers dream of. The day also saw its first female four-ball. The first place winners of the day each received prizes valued at R20 000. Each player received a goody bag worth R1 800 and every four-ball left the prize-giving evening with a prize.

Comedian Tumi Morake was also on hand to help hand out prizes while entertaining the hungry golfers.

The PH golf day is a highlight in its suppliers’ calendar and requests for it to be bigger have been ongoing for years.

It also remains one of the biggest fundraisers in the community of Krugersdorp and will continue to be such in the coming years.
