Rotary Krugersdorp proves service above self
The Krugersdorp Rotary Club's Friends of Rotary was not only a successful but also eventful night, when they inducted their first interact club as well.
The Rotary Club of Krugersdorp recently held their annual Friends of Rotary evening, where they did not only take a look back at the year that had passed, but also donated to some of the charities they support.
A big surprise on the evening was also the induction of their first Interact Club. Interact is for young people between the ages of 12 and 18, who get mentored by the Rotarians.

The club is made up of Donique Quappe (President), Danika De la Hunt-Van der Merwe (Vice President), Tshielo Kobi and Diana De Sousa (the two Treasurers), Demi-Lee Carlisle (Secretary) and Gaby Botha (who will take on the marketing role). Teacher Anita Moolman will be their overseer.
Rotary International also celebrated 34 years of their End Polio Drive, and after 34 years of hard work there were only 34 cases of polio in two countries last year.

They also awarded three organisations with merit awards. These go to people who, like the Rotarians, put service above self. The award recipients were the Community Policing Forum’s Sector 4, the Rotary Anns and Project Hope in Munsieville.
During the year, the Rotarians also had numerous fundraising events, with some of the funds being donated to organisations where it will make a difference. This year, the Cradle of Hope, the Gideons’ Bible Mission, House Jade, Light and Hope for Children with Disabilities, the Salvation Army, The Bethany House Trust, Hope Village and Gateway were all beneficiaries.
