Changing 100 lives through cupcakes
The team from Ecomed went above and beyond recently when they sold cupcakes to support the Cupcakes of HOPE organisation.
When it comes to lending a helping hand, Ecomed Medical is always first in line. And this time they went above and beyond.
Four very energetic ladies from the Ecomed team, Sonja Nel, Storm van der Merwe, Vangile Bafo and Tracy Brummer helped out the Cupcakes of HOPE organisation by selling cupcakes.
“Because we are an oxygen company we work with cancer patients a lot and feel that this is a way that we can give back to the community,” explained Sonja.
The ladies aimed at selling 500 cupcakes and on Monday, 15 February, which was also International Childhood Cancer Day, they set up their table and started selling cupcakes at 12 noon. When the News arrived at 12.20pm to take some photos all but four cupcakes had already been sold out.

On Friday, 19 February, they officially handed over the money they had raised, but with a little bit of a twist. Greg de Freitas, owner and managing director of Ecomed Medical added R100 000 to the more than R3 000 raised from the cupcake sales.
Lori-Anne Hill from Cupcakes of HOPE was very excited when she saw the donation and said the money would help 100 children for a month. The organisation does amazing work and helps to pay the medical bills and day-to-day needs of children with cancer.

“We have been fortunate to have prospered and it is important not only to me but also to the staff,” Greg said about the R100 000 donation.
Lori-Anne thanked the group and said their organisation would not be able to do their work without people like the Ecomed team.
