Active Covid-19 cases in Mogale increased to 1 070 – Department of Health concerned
The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 1 816 according to the latest report by the Gauteng Provincial Government.

The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Mogale City stood at 15 057 according to Gauteng Provincial Government’s latest breakdown. A total of 13 556 people have recovered so far. There has been 431 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area to 1 070.
Rand West City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 7 974 and 5 845 cases respectively. Rand West City and Merafong City have seen 7 221 and 5 380 recoveries respectively.
The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 28 883 with 908 deaths and 26 159 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District to 1 816.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 25 003 and 22 734 recoveries.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 484 116 with 446 765 recoveries and 11 519 deaths. This translates to 25 832 active cases within the Province.
Gauteng Department of Health concerned over alarming rise of new Covid-19 infections in the Province
The Gauteng Department of Health in a statement said that it was concerned by the alarming increase in Covid-19 infections. New cases continue to increase across the Province with Gauteng registering 5111 new cases in June 9, accounting for over 50% of new cases in the country.
