A full tummy and a helping hand

The Honeyfield Charity regularly tries to feed the less fortunate but they need the community's support to continue.

The Honeyfield Charity is a local organisation that looks after the less fortunate by trying to provide them with a warm meal at least once a week.

Recently, they celebrated Father’s Day at the Grace House Upliftment Centre.

Almost every Sunday, you will find the hard-working volunteers of this organisation on Kobe Krige Street where they provide food not only to the residents of the shelters in town, but also to those who call the streets their home.

On Father’s Day they wanted to do something special for the community. For many of the men who have fallen on hard times there are no celebrations such as Father’s Day.

The organisation handed out food to the residents of the Grace House Upliftment Centre and the Tower of Life shelter, as well as some who are living on the streets.

The volunteers from the Honeyfield Charity are Hilda Saunders, Valarie Turner, Dion Saunders, Lindy de Villiers, Elain Taylor, Kevin Taylor and Danie Bezuidenhoud.

There was cabbage, beans, rice, pumpkin fritters, carrots, potatoes, chicken and beetroot salad. As a special treat everyone also had trifle for dessert.

The founder of the charity, Ann Bezuidenhout said, “We thank you Lord for making this Father’s Day special for all the dads of Grace House Upliftment Centre – this was a big surprise to all of them. A nice hot Sunday meal plus pudding, and even the people outside received a plate of food. A big thanks to all my volunteers for all your hard work.”

Everyone had to be sanitized as well.

The charity unfortunately gets no funding other than the generous donations provided to them, and for them to continue with their good work they need your help.

If you are able and want to help them, please give Ann a call on 082 378 1395 or send an email to honeyfield123@gmail.com.
