Wish to get tested or vaccinated? Here’s where to go
The West Rand District Health Services will have pop-up sites again this week if you want to get tested. If you want the jab you can now even go there over weekends.
The West Rand District Health Services teams will be out and about in Mogale City again this week and conduct screening and testing for various medical issues, including Covid-19.
These pop-up sites are free to visit and the community can get screened and tested for Covid-19, TB, HIV, hypertension and diabetes. These teams also deliver chronic medication to households, distribute condoms, and visit bereaved families to enforce compliance with Covid-19 non-pharmaceutical interventions.
Between August 8 and 14, a total of 4 411 people were screened for Covid-19 and 115 tests were done. The teams also tested 2 430 people for HIV, of which three tested positive and were referred to the clinic to start treatment.
A total of 4 013 people were screened for TB and all of them were asymptomatic, while 3 625 people were screened for hypertension. Only one abnormality was detected and the person was referred for treatment.
The teams screened and tested 3 487 people for diabetes and all were asymptomatic. A total of 150 400 male condoms were distributed and 318 chronic medication deliveries were made to households.
They visited 182 bereaved families.

• Monday, August 16, the teams will be at Chamdor Shoprite (Ward 9) and Ace Café/ Soul City (Ward 16)
• Tuesday, August 17, the teams will be at Ace Café/ Soul City (Ward 16)
• Wednesday, August 18, the teams will be at Ace Café/ Soul City (Ward 16)
• Thursday, August 19, the teams will be at Mqandashe Hostel and Landfill Site (Ward 16)
• Friday, August 20, the teams will be at South Reach properties (Ward 16)
Vaccination sites will be open at Magalies Hall and Hekpoort Hall from August 16 to 20, and permanent vaccination sites are at Munsieville Care of the Aged, Kagiso Care of the Aged, Krugersdorp Centenary Hall, Leratong Hospital and Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.

The Gauteng Health Department encouraged the community to get vaccinated at any public vaccination site in their area.
All vaccination sites accept walk-ins, whether people are registered on the EVDS or not,” they said.
