Starting charity from a young age
At Polly Shorts Academy the learners know what it means to help those less fortunate than themselves. They have opened their hearts once again, this time for the Hopelands baby sanctuary.
At the Polly Shorts Academy in Lanseria learners are taught from an early age how to give back to those in need, a point they recently proved again when they donated baby goods to Hopelands in Magaliesburg.
Hopelands’ dream is to build a home where orphans can receive unconditional love, care and guidance, and be taught spiritual discipleship. They are busy finalising the preparations for their baby orphanage in Magaliesburg.
On Friday, August 13 Polly Shorts Academy learners, parents, and teachers were given the opportunity to donate baby goodies including baby food, clothes and toys to Stephen Lamprecht, his wife Sharon and their son Jonathan from Hopelands.

Teresa Aldous from Polly Shorts told the News that the school had done community projects in the past, and once again wanted to help their community. They want to teach the children in their school about generosity and to remember the less fortunate.
They plan on doing many more projects like this one and also will continue to support Hopelands.
“The children loved getting involved and being generous,” Teresa added.
Stephen told the children that they were very grateful for what they have done for Hopelands.
“We want to thank you for caring for others. The world becomes a better place when you care for others,” he said.
He told the learners and teachers the new baby home has three bedrooms and they trust that they will be able to comfortably help and host between 15 and 20 babies at any given moment.
They aim at creating awareness among the public and communities about the orphan crisis in South Africa.
