Curro Krugersdorp: The school of choice in the West Rand
Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals.

Curro Krugersdorp is an independent school in Rangeview, Krugersdorp that provides high-quality education for learners from two years of age to Grade 12. Our small class sizes and enhanced curriculum empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into self-confident individuals and to reach their personal, educational and eventual workplace goals. Our well-qualified and dedicated teachers and well-rounded approach prepare learners for the IEB examinations at the end of Grade 12.
Our nursery school, primary school and high school are on separate campuses.
What do we offer?
At Curro Krugersdorp we balance academic excellence with sports and cultural well-being, thereby ensuring that learners develop into well-rounded individuals. Our classrooms and facilities are fitted with state-of-the-art tools and learners may choose to use e-learning devices in the classrooms, rather than textbooks, from Grade 4 onwards. Our curriculum and unique approach to teaching focuses on fostering a creative mind, an eagerness to achieve excellence and an inherent dedication to hard work.
Our dedicated teachers give learners personal attention in the classroom, which helps to ensure that they achieve to the best of their abilities. Teaching takes place in Afrikaans or English in the primary school. From Grade 8 Afrikaans Home Language is offered as subject while and all other subjects are in English in preparation for the requirements of university. Afrikaans learners receive the necessary support to make this transition as smooth as possible. In the foundation phase, learners can benefit from having isiZulu as conversational language through the Abuti Syllabus.
Which activities do we offer?
We believe that participation in activities plays an important role in promoting health, team-awareness, discipline and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. Therefore, we offer a wide variety of competitive sports activities (D2 League) such as rugby and netball. The Curro cup competitions provide an additional competitive opportunity to our learners. Besides tours and camps, these activities are included in the school fees.
Cultural activities at our school are a priority. Our acclaimed culture department, with experienced and dedicated teachers, have seen our learners take part in many Afrikaans and English debating, public speaking and coral verse competitions. Our primary school has become known for their African drumming band, which is combined with the junior and senior a cappella choirs. We also offer Curro Create programmes, aimed at helping learners discover their inherent talents and broaden their exposure beyond their current reference framework. These activities are generally included in the school fees.

How do we use technology in the classroom?
At Curro Krugersdorp we embrace 21st-century learning by using e-learning devices in the classroom from the intermediate phase onwards. Our blended approach allows our leaners to use textbooks and software to view and study from an e-book. This approach allows them to collaborate easily and securely with teachers and peers.
We are Robotics inclusive and primary school learners participate in WRO
Primary school learners further benefit from Robotics and even participate in WRO (World Robot Olympiad) events and competitions – and they do exceptionally well.
At our nursery school Curro Castle Krugersdorp (ages two to five) we lay the foundation for your child’s future social and academic life by incorporating play in stimulating, developmental activities such as creative movement and artistic expression. By involving you as parents in your child’s learning experience, we provide a holistic development programme at affordable fees that stretches beyond the classroom.

We focus on the ELDAs
Our internally developed nursery school programme is designed with the Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs) in mind. The programme is designed to stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive well-being through developmental activities and engaging play areas.
By incorporating the latest research in physical and cognitive development, our three carefully-designed playgrounds, safety measures and daily programme create a safe and fun-filled home away from home. Our programme even offers computer classes and activities built around large soft bricks, which form the important early foundation for later Robotics studies in the primary school. In addition, our school fees include well-balanced wholesome meals, all stationery and an afternoon snack and we also accommodate working parents by having an early drop-off service from 06:30 as well as an aftercare class.

Which activities do we offer?
Children may participate in extramural activities as we believe that these play an important role in promoting friendship and self-confidence in addition to physical and social well-being. These activities are voluntary at an additional cost and designed to help children learn valuable skills, such as hand-eye coordination or balance, that require more time for development than can be provided during the daily programme.

How do we ensure safety in our school?
Our strict security measures ensure the safety of our children. The campus is protected by a security guard, keypad access, and CCTV cameras on the playground and in the classrooms. Visitors need to sign in to gain access and the number of visitors per class is limited. Children are collected from the classroom or aftercare centre and are signed in and out daily to ensure that they remain safe and accounted for.
