Comfort packs donated to Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court
The Krugersdorp Magistrates' Court received 43 donated comfort packs thanks to KinderKids.
For the past 13 years the KinderKids and Baby Academy have been supporting Matla A Bana by donating comfort packages. This year the packages went to the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
Manager at the school, Marita Louw explained that the donations form part of their Caring is Sharing week, and parents can donate as many care packages as they want. The idea is that the children assist them in packing the care packages.
Matla A Bana is a charity project aimed at minimising the secondary abuse children suffer when they report a crime. It says on the organisation’s website that a child is raped every three minutes in South Africa, mainly girls between three and 12 years old.

To help these children, Matla A Bana creates child-friendly facilities at police stations, courts and hospitals. When children report a crime they are given one of these donated comfort packs.
The packs contain comfort and emergency goods needed during the first hours of reporting, like underwear, soap, a facecloth, a toothbrush, toothpaste, sanitary pads, a colouring book, crayons, a teddy bear, something to eat and drink, and a personal letter of hope. These packs also help the police to establish a relationship of trust with the child.
KinderKids babies and children have been donating comfort packs for more than a decade, and Marita said Matla A Bana usually informs them where these packs are most needed at the time. And this time it was needed at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
Regional Magistrate Keith Page and Children’s Court Magistrate Delia Bosman received the 43 donated comfort packs.
“It is heart-warming to see how the KinderKids family opened their hearts in aid of such a good cause. We thank all the parents, work colleagues, family members and of course the Kinder kiddies for making a difference in an abused child’s life,” said Marita.
