Three airlifted, 16 injured in Tshepisong crash

Sixteen people were injured this morning when a taxi and light motor vehicle collided. Three women had to be airlifted.

The injuries of three of the 16 people involved in a collision in Tshepisong on Tuesday morning, September 28 were critical.

ER24’s communications officer Russel Meiring explained that they were injured when a taxi and light motor vehicle collided in Adcock Street.

“ER24 and other services arrived at 08:10 to find a taxi lying on its side a short distance away from the road.”

The taxi’s roof had been ripped open and several passengers had already started exiting the taxi through the torn roof.

Medics set up a triage area and assessed the patients. Three women had sustained critical injuries and 13 others had minor to serious injuries.

“The patients were treated, and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals.”

The three women who were in a critical condition were all airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

“The relevant authorities were on the scene and will be investigating the cause of the incident.”
