Slight decrease in active cases in Mogale City

There has been a slight decrease in the number of active Covid-19 cases in the Mogale City region.

As at October 4, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Mogale City stood at 29 391. A total of 28 554 people have recovered so far and there has been 807 Covid-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of active cases in the area down to 30.

Rand West City and Merafong City, which are also part of the West Rand District, have had 14 281 and 10 169 cases respectively. Rand West City and Merafong City have seen 13 753 and 9 783 recoveries respectively.

The total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the West Rand District is 53 848 with 1 696 deaths and 52 092 recoveries. This brings the total number of active cases in the District down to 60.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality Region C, which comprises Roodepoort, the number of confirmed cases to date stands at 52 933 and 52 164 recoveries.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was standing at 916 930 with 896 139 recoveries and 19 407 deaths. A total number of 1 972 people are currently hospitalised in the public (599) and private (1 373) facilities.

A total of 4 765 385 vaccines have been administered in the Gauteng province as at October 4.
