Vaccine statistics will now be released daily
In the West Rand, which comprises of Mogale City, Rand West City and Merafong City, 322 398 vaccinations have been administered. with 152 025 individuals fully vaccinated.
The Gauteng Provincial Government announced that it continues to work with various sectors of society towards vaccinating as many people as possible to beat the fourth wave ahead of the festive period.
In keeping with the set goal, the Gauteng Department of Health will now release daily vaccination rollout stats as a way of encouraging eligible people to prioritise getting the jab.
A total of 5 039 931 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as at October 9. The total number of individuals vaccinated are at 3 492 733 with 2 413 056 individuals being fully vaccinated.
In the West Rand, which comprises of Mogale City, Rand West City and Merafong City, 322 398 vaccinations have been administered. with 152 025 individuals fully vaccinated. According to the Gauteng Provincial Government, the population of the West Rand now stands at 686 355.
In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 2 230 725 vaccines have been administered with 1 026 076 individuals fully vaccinated. The population of Johannesburg stands at 4 36 765.
Vaccinations per age group in Gauteng:
- 18 to 34 years: Out of a population of 5 196 154, 379 990 individuals have been fully vaccinated
- 35 to 49 years: Out of a population of 13 441 983, 906 193 individuals have been fully vaccinated
- 50 to 59 years: Out of a population of 1 330 500, 512 082 individuals have been fully vaccinated
- 60+ years: Out of a population of 1 342 689, 614 496 individuals have been fully vaccinated
