Police investigate Kagiso double murder, rape case

The police are appealing to the community to come forward if they have any information about the brutal murder of two men on Wednesday.

Police were called to the scene where two men were found murdered on Wednesday morning, January 12.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said they are investigating the brutal murder of two men at the Accommodation informal settlement along the R28 road near Krugersdorp.

Sibiya said police were called out by residents in the early hours of Wednesday, January 12, and they found the body of the 25-year-old Mozambican man in the tall grass next to the R28.

He had an open, deep cut to the neck. The murder weapon was found next to the body.”

On further investigation they found the body of the 42-year-old victim, who is allegedly from Madibogo, inside his shack. He also had a stab wound to his neck.

Captain Sibiya said witnesses alleged that three unknown people entered the 25-year-old victim’s shack at about 00:00. They demanded cash and took cell phones.

“They bound the victim’s hands using a belt. One of them took the victim’s girlfriend to the nearby veld where he raped her.”

The thugs then took the man to an open space near the road where they killed him.

They then went to the 42-year-old victim’s shack, removed the corrugated iron from the back and gained entry. He was also stabbed in the neck and killed.”

Sibiya said the motive for the double murder is still unknown and the police are investigating.

The Kagiso Police are appealing to anyone who knows the perpetrators to call 011 696 9065/ 9067, 011 696 9059 or the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. Alternatively, send an SMS to 32211.
