Man’s body found in bin near Main Reef Road

Police are investigating the death of a man in his 20s after his body was found inside a bin in Kagiso on Tuesday.

The police received a call about a human limb that was found in a bin on Monday, February 1. At the scene they discovered the remains of an unidentified man.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said the body was found inside a bin in the crop fields near Main Reef Road next to Leratong Village.

Police subsequently made contact with the caller who told them that he and a friend were preparing to plough their fields when they noticed a black bin in the reeds. As they went closer they noticed a human hand protruding from the bin, which made them decide to phone the police.

“The police opened the bin and discovered the lifeless body of an unknown man inside.”

The man’s hands and feet were bound together, and he had sustained head injuries as well as bruises to his back.

“Police found his ID book in his pocket which identified the deceased as a 26-year-old. The motive for the murder is being investigated.”
