Rand Water has warned that Krugersdorp, Waterval and Roodepoort may experience water supply interruptions as emergency shutdowns are planned for Saturday, February 5 and Saturday, February 19.

“City Power, the entity of City of Johannesburg, has scheduled emergency shutdowns for the repairs of electrical equipment supplying Rand Water’s Eikenhof Pump Station.

“During the shutdown of February 5, Eikenhof Pump Station will only pump 66% of its full capacity (down to 800 mL/d from 1 200Ml/d) for a period of nine hours, from 6.30am to 3.30pm,” Rand Water said in a statement. The station will pump at 58% capacity (down to 700 mL/d from 1 200 mL/d) on February 19 during the same period.

The shutdowns have been scheduled on two different dates in order to minimise the impact of water supply interruptions to consumers. Rand Water urges all consumers to continue using water sparingly.”
