A 38-year-old man was arrested in Magaliesburg for being in possession of suspected stolen property.
West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere explained that Sergeants Reuben Minies and Mncedisi Makhatsu received a tip-off about a white KIA bakkie that was linked to the theft of truck tyres in Koster at about 06:00 on Wednesday February 2.
Members immediately reacted on information and spotted a vehicle that matched the description on Koster Road in Magaliesburg. They stopped the vehicle with its male occupant.
“The members requested to search him and his vehicle, and they found seven truck tyres with rims at the back of his bakkie. The driver could not produce any proof of purchase or give a satisfactory explanation about the delivery of the tyres.
“He was arrested and detained at the Magaliesburg Police Station. Investigations are continuing.”
The suspect will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
Magaliesburg Police station commander Lieutenant Colonel Mawewe Vuma applauded members for responding to the tip-off and thanked the community members for information that led to the arrest of the suspect.
