R10 000 worth of drugs confiscated from dealer

Police pounced on the suspected supplier and searched his home, where they found Mandrax tablets and 108 packets of crystal meth.

Within the space of one week since the last big drug-related arrest was made, the Kagiso Police arrested another drug dealer found with drugs to an estimated street value of R10 000.

Kagiso Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya said enhanced police visibility, complemented by stops-and-searches in areas considered hotspots had led to these arrests.

While out patrolling in Tshepisong police came across boys who were smoking nyaope. The members stopped and the boys ran away. Police gave chase and eventually apprehended one of the boys.

He took the police to his friend’s house and someone else eventually took them to his supplier a few blocks away.

Police pounced on the suspected supplier and searched his home, where they found Mandrax tablets.

Sixty eight of the tablets were cut into halves, and 196 into quarters. They also found 108 packets of crystal meth.”

The man was arrested, detained at the Kagiso Police Station, and charged with possession of and dealing in drugs.

According to Sibiya, the acting Kagiso Police station commander, Colonel Peter Mabaso was impressed with the arrest.

“Drugs are primary contributors to property-related and contact crimes, including grievous bodily harm and domestic violence. I am impressed by the members’ commitment to bringing the perpetrators thereof to book,” Mabaso said.
