Worker assaulted during robbery one of several serious incidents this week

Operations Manager of Mapogo a Mathamaga Security, Ben Willemse, shared the company's incident report for the past week.

The incidents that were recorded and attended to by the security company are as follow:

• Tuesday, July 19 at 18:50 – Attempted theft and arrest on Frederick Cooper Drive, Kenmare: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the palisade fence and attempted to steal items from the premises. When they were caught in the act the thugs attempted to flee but one of them was arrested with the assistance of the community policing forum.

• Thursday, July 21 at 3:35 – Theft and recovery on 2nd Street, Krugersdorp North: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the perimeter fence and stole a wheelbarrow before fleeing the scene. The response team conducted area patrols and retrieved the wheelbarrow from a premises where the perpetrators attempted to hide it. It was returned to the owner.

• Thursday, July 22 at 11:07 – Malicious damage to property on Von Brandis Street, Krugersdorp: Perpetrators arrived at the premises and an argument ensued between them and the owner. During the altercation a vehicle was damaged and the owner opted to open a case against the assailants at the police.

• Saturday, July 23 at 14:57 – Housebreaking and theft on Jarrah Street, Breaunanda: A client pressed the panic button as perpetrators were busy breaking into their neighbours’ house. It was found that the front gate lock was forced open, and that a black vehicle was driven onto the premises. The front door and safety gate subsequently were forced open and household items were stolen before the thieves fled the scene.

• Sunday, July 24 at 23:09 – Robbery and assault on Rustenburg Road, Tarlton: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by cutting the electric fence. They proceeded to the workers’ rooms where they forced open a door and assaulted a worker with a steel pipe before stealing his television and cash, and fleeing the scene.
