Man lands in hot water after stealing from his employer

A man was arrested after admitting to police that he had stolen from his employer.

Hekpoort Police recently arrested a 38-year-old man for being in possession of stolen goods.

According to a statement from the Hekpoort police’s Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye, the man was arrested at about 16:00 on Friday, July 22.

“The arrest came when the police were doing their routine stops-and-searches on the R24 road New Thorndale. They stopped and searched a white Nissan NP200 and found fitting pipes inside gloves and a hoodie.”

The man admitted that he had stolen the pipes from his employer and was arrested immediately.

Maswanganye said the Hekpoort police station commander, Captain Tebogo Kgomo applauded the members for their vigilance and also encouraged them to do more arrests of this nature, adding that retailers suffer losses due to theft by employees. This kind of attitude is considered a serious threat and has a direct effect on the economy.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon.
