Bring the fun to your New Year’s with these engaging ideas

Make this NYE unforgettable with easy, fun games that get everyone laughing, dancing, and bonding before the countdown.

Kick off your New Year’s Eve celebration with fun-filled games to engage with your family and friends while awaiting the big countdown. On the last day of the year, it’s a common South African tradition to braai. This year, why not try something new?

Here are a few game ideas for you to enjoy:

1. The Braai Trivia Challenge is a fun, interactive quiz designed to get everyone engaged in SA’s rich culture while enjoying a lekker braai.

How to play:
• Divide players into teams
• Ask teams trivia questions aloud
• Keep score to add a competitive edge
• The team or player with the most correct answers wins a prize (a small braai tool, a snack or a drink)

2. Pass the parcel is a fun game where players pass a gift wrapped in many layers of paper while music plays.

How to play:
• Wrap the prize: Wrap a main prize in multiple layers of paper. You can put a smaller prize, a treat, or a challenge in each layer
• Sit in a circle and start the music
• As the music plays, players pass the parcel around the circle
• When the music stops, the person holding the parcel unwraps one layer
• The music starts again, and the game continues until all layers are unwrapped and the final prize is revealed

This is a fun game to play with either friends or family, where you can use small gifts such as bracelets, sweet treats, or small toys.
